I had the honor to tell this great man that I believe in politics (which he reminded us comes from the word policy) because I knew Abner Mikva, when he was honored by The University of Chicago a year or so ago. My first adventure in politics was stuffing envelopes when Abner first ran for Congress on the South Side – I was 11. It started a life long interest in politics. I am sorry for his loss and grateful for his many years of exemplary public service.
