Jack Marco

is the retired Chairman of the Board of The Marco Consulting Group (MCG) an investment consulting firm specializing in multi-employer benefit funds. The 60-person firm based in Chicago, IL, was established in January 1988 with additional offices in Boston, MA. and Golden, CO. with clients located across the United States. The Marco Consulting Group served as the consultant to over 130 multi-employer client relationships whose combined assets exceed $150 billion, making MCG the largest provider of investment consulting services to multi-employer plans.

Mr. Marco began his career as an investment consultant in 1977 when he joined A.G. Becker, Inc. Initially he served as a consultant to large Taft-Hartley plans, public and corporate plans. His interest drew him to specialize in the labor-management area as a senior vice president at A.G. Becker. In late 1983 SEI Corporation purchased the consulting division of A.G. Becker and named Marco the National Manager of their Taft-Hartley Funds Evaluation Services. He left SEI in January of 1988 to form MCG. In 2017 the Marco Consulting Group was sold to The Segal Company and continues today as Segal-Marco Advisers.

Prior to joining A.G. Becker, Mr. Marco was a high school math teacher and track coach at Bloom Township High School that served East Chicago Heights, one of the most underserved communities in Illinois. He was then Administrative Assistant and Campaign Manager to U.S. Congressmen Abner J. Mikva of Illinois. He served in that position from 1971 to 1977. After a congressional redistricting, Mr. Mikva returned to private practice in 1973 and 1974, returning to Congress in 1975. During this period Mr. Marco was named Director of the Environmental Protection Agency by the Governor of the State of Illinois. At age 26, he was the youngest person to serve in that position in the U.S.

Mr. Marco has served as a Director to the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago, board member of the Illinois State Board of Investment and Trustee of the National Labor College.  He currently is a Board Member and Vice Chairman of the Mikva Challenge Foundation. Mr. Marco is also a Board Member of Jobs with Justice and board member of the National Real Estate Fund of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

He has taught courses on investment consulting as a Lecturer at DePaul University’s Graduate School of Commerce. He also serves on the Board of Regents of his alma mater, Lewis University. As a volunteer he currently serves as a mathematics teacher at the Coachella Adult School in Coachella, California and at the Coachella Valley Volunteers in Medicine, a free clinic in Indio.

Mr. Marco received his undergraduate degree in mathematics from Lewis University in 1968. His graduate studies were also in mathematics at Purdue, Northwestern and Northern Illinois Universities. He has four children and eight grandchildren.
