Teachers’ union creates creative lesson plan contest following Capitol riot

Last week our CPS Student Advisory Council met with the CEO of @chipubschools, Pedro Martinez. The youth were able to share about their current research and work around the following issue areas:

- Neighborhood Schools
- Safety & Restorative Practices
- Youth Voice & Inclusive Partnerships

Thank you CEO Martinez for taking the time to meet and listen to our youth council.

Today, over 60 students from Vaughn Occupational High School, led their third “Parade to the Polls” this school year. Mikva Challenge, @chicagoelection, and students paraded to the Loop Supersite where many students cast their first ballot! Shout out to all of the students who showed #democracyisaverb✊🏽✊🏿✊🏻

Mikva Challenge students had the opportunity to meet with Mayoral Candidates, Brandon Johnson and Paul Vallas, at a forum hosted by Chicago Women Take Action Alliance. In just a few weeks many Mikva students will serve as election judges again for the April 4th runoff.
