Teachers’ union creates creative lesson plan contest following Capitol riot

We are thrilled to share that Verneé Green is the new Chief Executive Officer of Mikva Challenge! Under her leadership, Mikva will grow in its mission to support educators as well as empower students to treat democracy as a verb: researching, elevating their voices, and taking action on issues about which they are passionate.

A dynamic educational leader, Verneé was most recently the Executive Director of Mikva’s Illinois chapter. Verneé grew up in St. Louis, and moved to Chicago after college. She has worked in the field of education for 25 years, including three years as a teacher in Chicago Public Schools, joining Mikva Challenge three years ago as the Chief Program Officer. Verneé is a fellow of Leadership Greater Chicago and Allstate’s Executive Leadership Program.

Mikva Challenge is looking for 7th, 8th, and 9th graders to serve on a summer Student Adivsory Board! The Board will meet virtually for 2 hours/week for 7 weeks total, starting the week of July 6th and ending the week of August 16th. Compensation is $20.hour for a total of up to $300.
