The annual Mikva Challenge Action Civics Showcase is a cornerstone of our Democracy in Action program and is coming up in two weeks! It brings together hundreds of young people from all over Chicago to share ideas and solutions on critical issues affecting their lives. All projects follow our six-step activism process that asks students to examine their communities, identify issues of importance, conduct intensive primary research about these issues, analyze power, develop strategies, and take action to make a positive impact. Our participants show an intense commitment to and sense of ownership over their schools and communities; their solutions are sometimes surprising but always serious.
