Mikva youth receive more than $200K in scholarships

At Chicago’s Navy Pier last month, high schoolers participating in Mikva’s College and Career Connections program met and interviewed with admissions representatives from colleges from across the country. The Onsite College and Leadership Forum, organized by Chicago Scholars, gives Chicago youth the opportunity to speak directly to admissions officers from nearly 200 colleges. The Mikva Challenge College and Career Connections initiative helps young people participating in our Summer Fellows programs to prepare for this opportunity. Many Mikva youth received their offers of admission and scholarships that same day! As one CCC participant said, “All the communications and practice we do, talking with adults in interview settings, especially when we interviewed for our [Mikva jobs] in the first place, definitely prepared me.”

The College and Career Connections program is supported by the Bob Norton College Transition and Leadership Fund.
