Abner Mikva admirably demonstrated throughout his life that politics can be the noble profession Aristotle proclaimed it to be, and that the public good is best achieved by upholding one’s principles and integrity. He defied the backroom politics of Chicago during the 1940s and ’50s by creating grassroots campaigns to move the city in a more progressive direction. We are grateful to Mr. Mikva for his commitment to building a more just society and for conveying how American politics can best serve the people.
