Join us at the 16th Annual Action Civics Showcase
Now in its 16th year, The Mikva Challenge Action Civics Showcase is a culminating celebration of the civic activism projects that Mikva Challenge youth teams throughout Chicago have been working on all year. Over 90 youth teams from 50 high schools and middle schools in Chicago explore issues, learn advocacy and organizing skills & design solutions to address some of the most critical issues in their communities.
Projects cover a range of issues from improving school culture and increasing safety in their communities to creating awareness around recycling in their school. There are two ways to be involved:
- Project Judging – Mikva Challenge is actively seeking adult volunteers to attend a one-hour portion of the Showcase (either 3:45PM – 5:00PM or 4:45PM – 6:00PM) to visit youth projects, nominate them for awards, and provide constructive feedback on their work.
- Visitor – The Showcase is open to the public from 4:00-6:00. Visitors will have the opportunity to interact with and provide feedback to youth presenters in a less formal way
Interested in volunteering as a project judge or attending as a visitor? RSVP for the timeslot of your choice online at https://tinyurl.com/2018ACSJudge

Mikva Challenge is a nonpartisan nonprofit that develops young people to be empowered, informed, and active citizens who will promote a more just and equitable society. In Chicagoland, we serve nearly 8,000 teens across 115 schools in programs that provide powerful, transformative experiences in civic engagement. Alumni of our programs graduate from high school, vote, and remain civically active at rates two- to four-times the rates of their peers.
We hope you will join us for this special event! We look forward to sharing our student work with you.
