100 Days: Youth Reshaping Democracy Learn More
Project Soapbox provides DC middle and high school students with a platform to speak out on the community issues that are most important to them by addressing, “What is the most pressing issue facing your community, and what should be done about it?” And given this current moment in time, it’s more important than ever that students are empowered to speak and be heard, which is why Mikva DC students, teachers, and staff were so excited to have taken Project Soapbox virtual!
After first writing and delivering their speeches at the classroom level this fall, student finalists from each classroom were featured in the Project Soapbox Semi-final Showcase. The top 10 student speeches were then presented at our first-ever virtual Citywide Project Soapbox event to key local elected officials and community leaders, and joined by the full Mikva DC community of young people, supporters, families and parents. Thanks to all who joined us to celebrate the power of youth voice and advocacy!
