Project Soapbox Riverside, CA

In collaboration with the Riverside County Office of Education and Riverside Unified School District, Mikva Challenge proudly presented Project Soapbox Riverside on November 17, 2021.

The event showcased the two-minute, call to action speeches of 14 students representing six schools. Speeches centered around issues affecting students and their communities, such as voting rights, immigrant student experiences, mental health, sustainability, and climate change.

Over 70 attendees showed up to support students, along with the 2021 Youth Voice Champions:

  • Dr. Michael Roe, Executive Director of Leadership, Innovation and Outreach for Riverside County Office of Education
  • Dr. Leann Iacuone, Asst. Principal for College and Career Readiness at District Grant Educational Center, Riverside Unified School District

We want to thank our Youth Voice Champions for listening and honoring the speakers’ truth, giving such thoughtful feedback, and making sure Project Soapbox is just the beginning of a lifetime of civic engagement and advocacy!
