Students from 58 schools across New York City, grades K-12, delivered original speeches that answer the question: “What is the biggest issue facing your community, and what should be done about it?” Between November – December, students gave their speeches in their classrooms and at school-wide events. Finalists advanced to the citywide Preliminary Rounds – and 8 outstanding speakers gave their speech at the culminating SoapboxNYC Mainstage Showcase event on January 20!
SoapboxNYC is a public speaking initiative put on by Civics for All and Mikva Challenge that calls on young people to develop and deliver an original speech on an issue that matters to them.
